Piccola, Balistrieri's, Cranky's and Lalli's -- all favorites in our house with the choice driven by our mood.

Don't know how you former Lalli's orderers are doing it -- I've never had them botch my 'za in 8 years. Just wish they'd send out those discount coupons more often! And speaking of those coupons, if you don't like their cash policy, go to the ATM next time and take out 2 $20s and toss one in the coupon drawer for you to use the next time and you won't need to make that extra stop!

If I order garlic bread, I would have to wait 15 minutes every time because they forgot (you think I would learn... but I love their bread). They've given me the wrong order.

I really like their food... they just constantly screw up at inconvenient times.

Yup, that is what we have had happen. If we order just a pizza it comes out fine but we usually get a pizza, salad, bread, and an ap. One is always missing when I go to pick up the order.

We love Lalli's for general pizza and Piccola for the Four Seasons!

Piccola is very nice.

Not Tosa - but Mama's on Burleigh does a good job too.

If you get your oven really hot (and have a pizze stone) you can purchase a ball of fresh dough from Metcalf's Sentry and do a pretty good job at home.

Il Mito has excellent pizza, as does Cranky's. Mama's on Burleigh is very good too, but that's in Milwaukee.

I forgot about the pizza I had at Il Mito. I concur... that was a good lunch.

Sendik's sells Scortino's dough. Its good, but I have my own recipe that I throw in the bread maker and put on the dough cycle. I got a really nice stone for a birthday present one year. I just keep it in the oven all the time.

I'm a huge Lalli's fan. Never have had a messed up order, either, but we about always just order pizza. Ask for them to do a garlic rub on the crust. MMMMM!

I tried that once and could not get the dough to do anything. Tried rolling, tossing and beating with a stick. I was able to spread it out enough for a calzone but it was hard as a rock.

The dickens you say.

The Scortino's dough they sell there and at Sendik's is great. Try it on the grill some time, too.

The March edition of Milwaukee Magazine features Best Pizza.

Locally - Lalli's, Balistreri's (on 68th), Barbiere's, Balistreri's Bluemound Inn and Pizzaria Piccola are all featured.

The Tosa area is home to some fine 'za.

We went to Barbiere's maybe a year or two ago....and were disappointed on many fronts. The place was kind of messy...stuff on the floor and the pizza was not so hot. 30 years ago I went there quite a bit and it was a favorite place. It really looked about the same as 30 years ago but the night we went left me less then impressed. Maybe it was just an off night. Has the same family owned it all these years ?

I'm looking forward to trying Pizzaria Piccola. What kind of atmosphere does it have ?

Nice and even airy, given the crammed quarters. Dining is upstairs-- the walls are cream city brick and seating is wooden dining sets--6, 4, or 2 tops. You place your order at the downstairs counter and then go upstairs and find your seat... servers will deliver. Help yourself to soda. "Other" beverages you order and carry with you.

I prefer eating outside when weather permits.

The kids working at Lallis always seem a bit stoned, but the pizza is great. I haven't had any ordering issues in 7+ years. Cranky Al's is also very good. I have had uneven experiences at Ballestreris. Bad lunch pizza, good dinner pizza.

We tried Lallie's and loved it. They have officially been entered in my phone book under "P" for pizza.
